Who am I?

I have been a resident of West Kelowna since 1994 when I first moved to Shannon Lake with my wife and two sons. Educated in economics, basic psychology, business administration, accounting and some IT and system programming, I'm confident I have the skills and knowledge to be a valuable council member who can contribute to make a difference. My experience varies as a financial controller, programmer, director/treasurer for both profit and non-profit corporations, and I've been an entrepreneur that has engaged in a vast array of businesses locally and abroad. I currently run a local accounting & tax services firm that looks after many of West Kelowna's small to medium sized businesses.

Why am I running for council?

Changes - From my little computer store (before Future Shop and Best Buy) to establishing West Kelowna's first ever Malaysian restaurant, I am someone who calls West Kelowna home. I've seen it grow from a small Canadian town to the current rapidly-growing city it is today. With new leadership (Mayor) on the horizon, do the people of West Kelowna also need a change in council? We can see that there are many issues and concerns that citizens like myself would like seen addressed and there's a need to vote for a stronger council to expedite the much necessary infrastructure for the growth of our city without compromising the peace and serenity of our community.

A Candidate with Integrity, Versatility, & Fairness

JEROME CHUNG, for West Kelowna Council, has served in a number of non-profit and profit organizations as a board of director for years at a time, holding a variety of roles and titles throughout his career. He was educated at the University of Victoria, Camosun College, BCIT, and the Registered Industrial Accountant (CMA or CPA). He has experience working as an accountant, programmer/analyst, and an entrepreneur in many industries, such as financial & insurance institutions, small businesses, e-commerce and major corporations. However, the first thing his friends and family will tell you is that he has never forgotten where he came from or who he's been fighting for. Committed to change in our world, JEROME CHUNG for WK Councillor has set his standards high, and will not stop fighting until a proper balance has been reached. The Issues At Hand

Did the past elected Council members accomplish the tasks set out by the voters?
Time for Change

Above all issues or platforms, I am sure that we all want to strive for the best living conditions possible for our community within the means of funds generated from our tax dollars. To address the issues at hand for our platform, I've discovered that our community has been asking in regards to 3 major concerns:

The city's major infrastructure, such as the "Water Treatment Plant" for the major areas of the city like Lakeview Heights, Boucherie Centre, Shannon Lake, Rose Valley, West Kelowna Estates, Sunnyside, & Casa Loma.
Our Highway 97 congestion, on when will solutions be implemented; additionally the Boucherie road upgrades which were confounded with errors.
Why the City Hall complex, despite being rejected by voters based on location, was put on hold if there was a budget/funds set aside for it? Is there a study or a 3-5 year forecast of a cost analysis completed as to whether it was feasible or profitable to build the city hall rather than spend tax dollars on leasing costs for the next 4 or 5 years?

With my experience as a financial controller and certified accountant, I'm confident I will be able to help in these areas.
